Greek (Ellinika) is the official medium of instruction at most public universities, but English dominates at the master's level, MBA tracks, NTUA international engineering, AUEB MSc programmes, NKUA English-medium master's, and the ALBA, ACG Deree, and Hellenic American University tracks by design. Our honest scope is English content only; Ellinika using the Greek alphabet is out of scope as the primary evaluation language.
This is where the classifier is calibrated. Athens tech teams producing English copy for global SaaS buyers, AUEB and NKUA students submitting English-medium degree work, NTUA engineering and AUTh international cohorts, Piraeus shipping firms publishing English corporate communications, Greek SaaS writers producing English landing pages, and Greek freelancers writing for international outlets all sit in the strongest part of the tool.
Accuracy is meaningfully lower on Greek-only text. The classifier sees the patterns it learned in English training and tries to apply them, but the result is less reliable than it is in English, particularly given that Greek uses a distinct alphabet, polytonic and monotonic orthography, and a morphologically rich grammar with three grammatical genders, four cases, and a synthetic verb system. We do not recommend TextSight as the primary check for Greek-only diatribi or articles. For Greek institutional submissions, Turnitin's Greek coverage is the better institutional fit where your school provides it.
A common pattern at Athens agencies and Piraeus shipping communications teams is to draft in English for global audiences, then localise into Greek for the domestic market. This works well in practice.
