Semihuman alternatives: what to compare before you switch

Most people looking for a Semihuman alternative want one of two things: a cheaper or larger word allowance for the same job, or a tool that does a different job entirely. Those lead to opposite shortlists. This page separates them, sources every competitor figure to the vendor's own page, and says plainly where TextSight does not fit.

What Semihuman sells, in its own words

Semihuman's homepage headline reads "Bypass AI Detectors and Humanize Text", and the page states the product "detects and converts AI generated text into plagiarism-free, undetectable text with 100% human score" (semihuman.ai, checked 16 August 2026). Its named targets are Turnitin, GPTZero, ZeroGPT, Copyleaks and Scribbr, listed under a heading that reads "AI detectors we help you beat".

The site is operated by Samwell AI inc., 16 E 18th St, New York, NY, 10003, per its own terms of service (semihuman.ai/terms-of-service, checked 16 August 2026). Those terms disclaim warranties in the usual way: "THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN 'AS-IS' AND 'AS-AVAILABLE BASIS'", and cap liability at the amount paid in the prior six months.

That is the product category. It is a rewriting tool sold on the promise of evading detectors. Knowing that is most of the work of picking a replacement, because a replacement has to serve the same purpose or a deliberately different one.

The slider is the most useful thing on the page

Semihuman's editor carries a control it calls "Authenticity Balance Control", with the ends labelled "Less Bypass / More Readable" and "Better Bypass / Less Readable" (semihuman.ai, checked 16 August 2026).

That control is worth pausing on. It is a vendor stating on its own front page that pushing harder against detectors costs readability. Whatever you switch to, that tradeoff does not disappear; most competitors simply do not expose it as a dial. If your reason for leaving Semihuman is that the output read badly, the first thing to check is whether you were running the slider near the bypass end, because that is the setting the vendor itself associates with less readable text.

Semihuman also runs an in-app check panel that labels text against Turnitin, GPTZero, ZeroGPT, Copyleaks and Scribbr. Any score shown in a rewriting tool's own interface is the vendor's estimate of what those systems would say, not a result from those systems.

What Semihuman publishes about plans

ItemPublished on semihuman.ai
Free250 words/month, "AI Check", "No credit card required"
Basic15,000 words/month, AI Check, Support
Pro100,000 words/month, priority support, "Priority line (4x process speed)"
Yearly billingBanner reads "Save 50%"
Dollar amountsDid not render on the upgrade page when checked
Refunds"ALL SALES ARE FINAL, payments for Semihuman AI subscriptions and enterprise licenses are NOT REFUNDABLE"

Allowances and the yearly discount are from semihuman.ai/upgrade and the refund line from semihuman.ai/refund-policy, both checked 16 August 2026. The prices on the upgrade page are loaded after the page renders and were not visible to us, so we are not quoting a figure for Basic or Pro. Check them yourself before you commit, because the no refunds clause means the first month is the trial.

A 250 word monthly free tier is the smallest of the five tools in this category we looked at closely. It is enough to see the interface and one short paragraph of output, and not much more.

Where Semihuman is still the better choice

If your goal is to get AI generated text past a detector, Semihuman is built for that and TextSight is not. Nothing on this page should be read as an argument that we substitute for it.

Specifically, stay where you are if:

  • You want the readability tradeoff under your own control. The balance slider is unusual. Several competitors give you preset modes instead, which is less granular.
  • Your volume sits under 100,000 words a month and the Pro price works for you. A 100,000 word monthly pool with a stated speed priority is a reasonable shape for one heavy writer.
  • You want the in-app check panel against five named detector brands. Fewer tools name Scribbr specifically.
  • You are already paid up. The refund policy is absolute, so switching mid term costs you the remainder.

What TextSight is, so you can rule it out quickly

TextSight is on the other side of this. We build the detector. Our rewriter exists to make writing clearer, not to move a score, and we do not publish pass rates against anyone's detector because chasing that number is not what the tool is for.

So if you arrived here wanting a stronger bypass than Semihuman gave you, we are the wrong link in the search results. Go and compare Semihuman against the other tools in its category on word caps, per input limits and refund windows.

TextSight fits a different problem: you need to know what a detector will say about a document, and you need that on the record. Teaching staff triaging submissions, editors checking freelance copy, and agencies who have to show a client something before delivery.

Two honest limits before you consider us. Our detector is English only, an ensemble of DeBERTa, RoBERTa and ELECTRA. And it carries a known false positive bias against writers who learned English as a second language, which is a real risk if you plan to use a score as evidence about a person. Treat any result as one input into a human judgement, never as proof.

If you write in Spanish, French, Chinese or anything else, our detector will not help you and you should look at tools with genuine multilingual coverage.

What TextSight costs

PlanMonthlyAnnual (25% off)
Starter$9.99$7.49/mo
Pro$19.99$14.99/mo
Business$39.99$29.99/mo
Enterprise$79.99$59.99/mo

Sentence level analysis and PDF export start at Starter. Chrome extension and the REST API start at Pro. Teams and branded reports start at Business. File upload, URL scan and bulk scan are included.

The box at the top of this page runs without an account: 3 checks a day, pooled across the AI Detector and Document Detector, capped at 1,000 words. A free account raises that to 60 checks a day at 5,000 words with history. Starter is 200 a day; Pro and above are unlimited. Minimum input is 25 words. Results land in three bands: under 30 reads as likely human written, 30 to 69 as mixed signals, 70 and above as likely AI generated.

A ten minute way to decide

Take 500 words you actually care about. Run them through the box above and note the band. Then ask what you want to happen next.

If the answer is "I want that number to go down before anyone sees it", you want a rewriting tool, and Semihuman or one of its competitors is your shortlist. Compare them on free tier size, per input word caps and refund window, because those three are what people hit in the first week.

If the answer is "I need to understand why it scored that way, and show someone", that is what sentence level analysis and PDF export are for, and that is us.

Semihuman alternatives alternatives, frequently asked.

Does Semihuman have a free plan?
Yes. The upgrade page lists a Free tier at 250 words per month including AI Check, with "No credit card required" (semihuman.ai/upgrade, checked 16 August 2026).
Does Semihuman offer refunds?
No. Its refund policy states "ALL SALES ARE FINAL, payments for Semihuman AI subscriptions and enterprise licenses are NOT REFUNDABLE" (semihuman.ai/refund-policy, checked 16 August 2026).
How much does Semihuman cost?
We could not verify a figure. The upgrade page shows plan allowances and a "Save 50%" yearly banner, but the dollar amounts load after the page renders and did not appear for us on 16 August 2026. Read them on the vendor's page before subscribing.
Does Semihuman support languages other than English?
We only observed an English interface on semihuman.ai on 16 August 2026. The site did not publish a supported language list that we could verify, so treat non English use as unconfirmed.
Can TextSight replace Semihuman?
Not for its main purpose. Semihuman rewrites text to evade detectors; TextSight builds the detector and rewrites for clarity. If evasion is your goal, compare Semihuman with other tools in its own category.
Is a detector score proof that something was AI written?
No. Our own detector is English only and has a known false positive bias against second language English writers. Use a score to start a conversation, not to end one.
